It is a primary function of the Supervisor of Elections office to reach out to the community and the voters through the various means available. The Walton County Supervisor of Elections Office is involved in numerous events, organizations, and programs throughout the year.
Events:
Upon request, a representative from our office is available for events such as registration drives, public demonstrations, information fairs, elections, speaking events, community forums, and other social events. If you or your organization would like our office to visit you or be at your event, please feel free to contact us so we can schedule it.
Vote In Honor of a Veteran:
The Vote In Honor of a Veteran program is designed to encourage voter turnout and participation by honoring local veterans. A Wall of Honor is displayed at both offices with pictures of veterans who have some connection to Walton County. Many of them are people currently living in our communities who have played a part in protecting our freedoms, including the right to vote. For more information, please visit the Vote In Honor of a Veteran page.
Retired Flag Depository:
If you have an American Flag that needs to be retired properly, retired flag depositories have been placed near the entrances of the Courthouse in DeFuniak Springs and the Courthouse Annex in Santa Rosa Beach, near our offices. Retired flags are donated to Stars for Our Troops
, where they are disposed of properly. They "are a group of volunteers that are patriotic, who take old tattered and faded US Flags, retired from service and we pass the legacy of their embroidered Stars to those that defended them."
Double Click Democracy:
Double Click Democracy is an easy-to-use online voting system that can be used in schools and other civic clubs to conduct elections. It is provided through Kids Voting Florida (KVFL) in association with Kids Voting USA. Kids Voting Florida is a partnership of the Lou Frey Institute at the University of Central Florida, the Florida Joint Center for Citizenship, the Florida Supervisors of Elections (FSE), and the Florida Association of Social Studies Supervisors. The Walton County Supervisor of Elections Office has partnered with these organizations to be a local administrator of the Double Click Democracy system.
